perplexe.
As he was affected with a disability, René Peccolo began painting since his early childhood. The atmosphere René Peccolo’s paintings are imbued with plunges us into a strange world which is made up of curiosity and emotion within human destiny. His lyrical work explores such notions as desire and regret, nostalgia and hope, as well as loneliness and expectancy; it also rouses the visitors’ desire to understand his particularly strange and far from fashion-conscious world. René Peccolo expresses with deep feeling his profound view of modern man with an accurate knowledge that is sometimes so close to our daily realities. René Peccolo paints a shadowy and deceptive world where human figures wander amid cardboard walls in a harsh and gloomy light. His is a secret and theatrical world evolving underneath the deliberately maintained veil of a slightly mysterious, disturbing and puzzling world. His work has been described by "wholesale experts" as modern expressionism. He was born in the Toulouse area, but moved to northern France where he came across the dark light of his paintings.
"Being aware of what we see is the main feature of life", Oskar Kokoschka.
